Exploring SL9B

What a lovely event! SL9B is literally bursting with ideas! A virtual-world-fair in the best sense of the word and a strong statement of the creative spirit in SL.

The German RP-Sim Carima had a lovely idea to bring a glance of their world to exhibit: They opened a medieval tavern. Its so far the most accessible and friendly place I did encounter here! Being not a great roleplayer by myself I quickly made it to link up and having a good time there. So if you like to rest your feet after a long day strolling through the various exhibits the Carima Tavern is the right place you. And their mead is excellent!

Just a few steps away from the tavern things are more... surreal though.

Other places however grant residents of SL a look behind the scenes - even if there is sometimes not too much to see though...

Well... don't say you did expect something different.

In general you can describe the SL9B exhibits with "diversity". There is simply something for everybody, no matter if you are into romantic nature-sceneries, philosophical "discussions", art, music architecture...

Somehow Peccanini doing strings-magic. After that picture I decided to have roadie...

Wow - they even put a statue of my friend goat here.

So far I can say Second Life's 9th Birthday is what the Burn2 Events could have been. You can really see some of the finest installations and communities represented on the Grid - a simply amazing event!

SL9B - Or Simply "Happy Birthday SL!"

Yes, its nearly unbelievable, but our good old Second Life is now nine (!) years old. An anniversary mostly ignored by Linden Labs though - seems they still don't really know how to handle their own creation. But the community again showed its creativity and the wonderful DIY approach which made SL the place we all know and love - its all about the people!

Under http://sl9b.wordpress.com you can find a list Landmarks, a schedule of the ongoing events and a lot more!

Sadly there isn't much time left - just a few days till the celebrations end on 27th june. So hurry! There is a lot to explore. For example a lovely exhibit and party-place featuring the ancient Egypt:

Of course I had to explore it by plane. It just fits wonderfully into the setting!

Luvia proved herself as skilled pilot handling even the worst lag-crosswinds while I took the pictures.

Ok, enough of blogging. I'll head off to SL9B - see you there!

Unleashed BDSM And Rock Club

When going to a BDSM club in SL I always that the same problem: as nicely (and kinky) the places were - they never quite played "my" kind of music. Well, I wasn't the only one who felt so and some day the question appeared "Why don't we have our own club?".

Well, we do have one - and after a break its in full flight again! If you like rock and metal, a kinky and playful atmosphere, cages and rlv furniture, Un-Leashed is the right club for you!

Enjoy hot rock and metal tunes on the dancefloor...

...and have a cocktail at the bar and lounge...

...while your sub is nicely locked in "The Pit"...

...or is securely stored in a pretty "safe" place.

Feel free to come by and have a good time! We are a pretty easygoing bunch and don't apply many rules which aren't already covered by use of some common sense ;-)

Here is your Limo!

...and here you can join our group :-)

Outch! Pierced Cheek Gags!

Emma seems to develop a serious affinity to gags. Especially to pretty mean piercing gags, as her last release shows: A pair of sheer evilness. I think the pictures speak for themselves - outch!

Twice as evil - only one price for both. The Piercing Gags!

Evil #1: Hooked Cheek Gag

Evil #2: Pierced Cheek Gag

The gags are of course fully rlv compatible, have several garble levels (using automatic chat-redirection), timelock and keyholder system and a comfortable resizer-menu to make them fit to the subs individual face shape.

Certainly a unique and pretty kinky way to ensure having a quiet sub :-)

Check them out at Emma's Store!

Steampunk Goes To War

Between working on my aircraft carrier I also fiddle with some other projects. One of them is expanding my range of airplanes.

So these days my store sees the release of a new series: Fast and nimble single-seat fighter planes, equipped with the Terra Combat System (TCS) for thrilling dogfight experiences!

It all started with my steampunk monoplane. Originally intended as small airplane to equip the aircraft carrier with, I quickly felt there is much more potential in that design then just this one type. It almost begged for being played with.

Since the monoplane is inspired by early WW1 designs, I just took the next step, took some more fighter planes of that era as inspiration:

Steampunk Monoplane

After the monoplane came...

Steampunk Biplane

...a biplane. The classical WW1 Fighter configuration with rotary engine. Just like classics like the Sopwith Camel or the Nieuport-series. After this one I felt logically tempted to...

Steampunk Triplane

...add another wing and make a triplane!

After this one though I thought I should reduce the number of wings again:

Steampunk Parasol Monoplane

The Parasol Monoplane is a direct relative to the German Fokker D.VIII, a fighter used late in the war using a thick wing-profile which was far ahead of its time.

I also went for a more aggressive design with the Biplane Mk2. Heavily inspired by the Albatros fighter and the Roland 2-seater its really a pretty mean, Teutonic looking machine.

Steampunk Airplane Mk2

My latest creation goes back again to my beginnings in steampunk aviation. Again a pusher design, this time closely oriented at its real-life inspiration, the Airco DH.2, the first british single-seat fighter plane!

Steampunk Fighter Prototype

All aircrafts have a completely overhauled flight script (with automatic taxi-mode at low throttle-settings), creating literally only a fracture of lag other flight scripts do.

Of course all planes (and of course very decorative miniatures) are available at my Marketplace-Store. Blue Skies!

Some-times You Just Get Carried Away...

In my last product update I promised its getting big. And indeed: a 45 meters long Steampunk Aircraft-Carrier isn't the smallest thing in SL.

The aircraft carrier with monoplane ready for takeoff.

View at the rear of the aircraft carrier.

The carrier is designed for aviators who like to combine having a stylish airship as place for living, without denying the opportunity of having landing strip  nearby.  It is the ideal platform for starting aeronautical excursions!

The aircraft carrier in its full length.

The lower pod seen from front.

A steam-engine installed in the rear provides the power supply. The engine is belt-driven, fully animated and uses a geared transmission to drive the propeller.
It is comfortable to operate via menu. has 3 forward speeds, and one backwards. As usual the scripts are designed for low lag and high usability.

The steam-engine with its power transmission in the foreground

The steam-engine is fully animated and has authentic sounds!

The way up to the landing deck is provided by an elevator which unfolds and retracts itself automatically for not disturbing the sleek and elegant shape of the ship when not in use.

Clicking the door unfolds the automatic elevator to the flight deck.

A special carrier-version of the Steampunk Monoplane is included too. It has the ability to fold its wings when on the ground to take less space on the landing deck.

The landing deck with Drow pilot (not included) and monoplane in parking position (included).

As all my creations the carrier shows my distinctive handwriting: Functionality combined with style without wasting prims. The prim-count for the fully equipped version (including steam-engine, chandelier and carpet) is only 107!

Final flight-trials, tweaks and constructing work are still in progress, but the carrier will arrive the marketplace very soon - stay tuned!

Features:

  • 45-meter landing strip
  • Comfortable lower living pod
  • Fully animated steam-engine
  • Automatically retracting elevator
  • Bonus: Steampunk Monoplane with folding wings!

The Red Baron On Exhibit!

A few days ago I got a request from a customer to make a no-script version of the Fokker Triplane. I gladly did accept of course - just to learn that my plane is part of an exhibition!

What a beauty! And the Triplane looks great too.

Theme of the exhibition is "Human Spirit".

The museum features an eclectic mix of human creativity from airplanes to classical paintings, religious themes, nude art, music...

I hope I'm not sitting on a piece of art now.

Ok, I guess now I am.

I give the Wright Flyer rather little odds against the Fokker.

The exhibition is really worth a look - and not only because of the Red Baron ;-)

Check it out!
