Time Standing Still - The Mysteries of Pteron - Part I

On our restless explorations through the most remote regions of space the Drow Space Exploration Society recently discovered one of the most fascinating yet mysterious places ever seen.
The strange city of Pteron.
A site where time seems to stand still Where an ancient civilization has left cryptic leftovers of their former present. Or are they still there? Perhaps just moved to another dimension but still around our daring explorers?
We will perhaps never find out. But we can look at the astonishing site they have left for us to discover:

Strange lights at the sky welcome our daring explorer when arriving Pteron.

I'm getting some intriguing energy signatures from this... "Object".

At least something about the creators of Pteron is certain: they have taste!

Take care what to touch at Pteron. You may get teleported somewhere...

...but you will also discover even more fascinating things there.

An attentive observer may have noticed the ears added to this space helmet - a sign of genuine Drow-engineering.

A religious symbol? A piece of art? Or some kind of transmission device?

Of course I took samples of these plants. They grow well in a nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere like planet Earth has.

My Second Life Bike Tour the 3rd - Part 2

I don't know why but I had some issues uploading the rest of the snapshota of my todays route. So I try to put them into a new post...

Where did I got interrupted? Ah yes... that closed bridge:

Who thought I wouldn't jump??

Fenric - The other side: A transport system! Bah thats ridiculous - where is the fun with jumping then?

This can happen when you stop for a short photo break...

Onatopp - Some and the Primstalk

Oddjob - hair standing on end - but I wasn't riding THAT fast!

Satori has a comfortable amount of rezz zones btw.

Richfield, Junction with Road 8a: And roadsigns, yet even maps! Thats some high end travelling here.

Granada - its good to be able to take a break from touring without having to worry about finding a place where you can put your bike when you want to go on - yay!

Todays route followed Road 8 up towards the north of Satori from Bagheera to Granada. So far it was a quite classical biketour with no banlines or dead ends - but the journey will evenutally need some flying to other continents too. Actually I can hardly wait for that!

My Second Life Bike Tour the 3rd - Part 1

Surprise surprise! Obviously my break from touring didn't lasted long. That huge landmass Satori simply was too teasing to ignore it any longer. And so far I didn't got disappointed. Thanks to plenty of rezz-zones and a nice straight road the ride was quite comfortable. Well... besides a bridge which... well... best you see by yourself...

This time I even made some considerations about the route before I started. Believe me - thats quite an amount of organization for me!

But now let's show you some pictures. My journey started deep in the south at the Sim Bagheera.

Bagheera - ready for the next tour! Its the continent "Satori" this time

Sutekh - Dark Prince Club: Visitors seem to be welcome here.

Outside the club is a pretty skillful aggregations of stones. Let's see whats inside...

Surprisingly the interior totally fits to its outer appearance.

Me and the Dark Prince's rubber duck.

Not far away from the cathedr... club there is a crypt too. The books on the shelf contain H.P. Lovecraft's collected works. Well despite being an author of short novels mainly in real life they do take a little more room.

If it has to be the sky - why not live in an airship instead of a levitating house? It would look way less ridiculous this way.

Xoanon - just in case you wonder why I am wearing welding goggles today (and its pretty stylish too of course).

Dinah - Cafe MobilGas: The holes in the sign are not from bullets - at least not from mine...

One of those crashed somewhere near my home some weeks ago. I think it still didn't got auto-returned and still pollutes the Sim with its carbon...prim-particles.

Davros - what - already now? I have hardly crossed 4 Sims yet!

Good Bye Stonehaven!

For many it was the first place where they had their BDSM-experiences in Second Life: Stonehaven. Stonehaven Castle, the Cageroom, the Patio... and not to forget the one or another Prison up there.

Now it's history. Stonehaven is gone. Its owner, Dirk Massiel explained the reason for this decision extensively in his Blog. Well I don't want to stir too much up but in fact Stonehaven was pretty empty in the recent couple of months, or, lets say for about a year already. I dont want to speculate about the reason why such a originally pretty vivid community could decline that dramatically though.

Anyway: I liked that place - no surprise: I made my first RLV-experiences there, got poor innocent subs into trouble, got into trouble by mself and had quite the time to study the Castles cell architecture extensively. In the recent time however my visits there became less and less. Primary though by personal reasons which had nothing to do with Stonehaven. But obviously I was not the only one, who became a rare guest there.
Now Dirk decided to make facts. Stonehaven is gone - at least for Second Life. He decided to open a new version of it though on OSGrid. I guess future will tell what will be with it. If it will be the vivid community again as it was on Second Life or if it will be rather a museum reminding on better times.

Only hours before the sim got abandoned and finally shut down I used the opportunity to say good bye and to take some pictures. I even took some mourning clothes on. Let's celebrate a last look on Stonehaven and remember the good old times there:

Taking a last look at the Castle's cells: Memories, memories...

 Mean simplicity.

Drows love music - didn't you know?

Hell - that was a funny one! Too bad I didn't took photos last time I used it.

You better don't get your head in there but the view for the people passing by was great...

After some days in the cells I loved this view.

A last chat at the Patio.

Do I need you to tell that was the cageroom?

New visitors always got a "warm" welcome here

Its not a space-ship bridge: its the prison. It was - I think - the last addition to Stonehaven. I liked the old one - which was more traditional - better. I guess I'm simply a bars and chains person.

 The Prison's laboratory.

Some kind of... Greenhouse. Beware: they bite! (besides other things)

A last look at what Stonehaven was for me: Cageroom and Castle

and pictures!

Second Life Bike Tour - Reloaded! XV

Today marks the last day of my Bike Tour through Sansara. It was quite the epic journey - I actually haven't expected it to take that long - neither that my series on this Blog will go into its 16th part. Pretty amazing...
I'm glad I've made this tour. It was a lot of fun and I met some new friends as well. I felt really like an explorer traveling through a strange but beautiful land.
My journey however isn't really over. There other continents (and archipelagos) waiting for me to be discovered. Not speaking of the many many Sims spread all over the gird. Let's call it rather a break before I head into my next adventure. I hope you will be with me then too :-)

But first some photos of my last stage: Westward through Bay City with some breaks for exploring whats left and right, finding a few curiosities (and plenty of crash-opportunities):

Bay City - Rollers - some people might find these lop ears cute but... being a Drow its rather irritating for me...

A memorial for the tsunami victims. Isn't it interesting how fast things went back to normal for us? Well... the people in Japan do still suffer: Perhaps 20,000 died and the radiation released by that nuclear plant is now worse than ever before. It may be over for the media - but it certainly isnt over for the Japanese people.

In German we would call such glamorous theaters "Filmpalast".

I just decided tonights movie will be Easy Rider

Hau Koda - Its hard to believe but this shapeless piece of asphalt is actually the runway of the glorious Bay City Municipal Airport. We have seen more stylish ones - haven't we?

More representative: the front of the airport-building. It's also an Infohub and one of the stylish ones. A great place for dying in lag before a bunch of newbies if you try to fly a plane there!

It ends where it started: at the Truro Airship Terminal. I departed from here more than two weeks ago.

Second Life Bike Tour - Reloaded! XIV

Back in Bay City I found out that I have missed more interesting spots on my way out than expected. I would have seen much more if I hadn't simply headed flatout eastwards - but that comfortable and straight road was simply too tempting...
Shermerville was rather a disappointment. It consists of residential Sims with mostly rather common buildings. Not too thrilling but here and there you find some curiosities...

Shamwari /me inspects the mssing parts of the shack and thinks they have pretty big and high jumping sharks here

Shermerville - I hope you can read!

West Haven - they worship the god of relaxation at this temple I assume.

West Haven - 75? In an urban area? And I guess you're allowed to drive drunken too...

After crossing the bridge back to downtown Bay City I wanted to see more of the city. It is visually pretty appealing - if they just had more rezz zones!

Sistiana - meeting someone at Bay City who actually lives there - wow!

After RudyB showed me a place where I can park my bike we continued our chat at his apartment. A pretty stylish place.

Sistiana - ok, its a bit derelict but flies well. And it even has a harpoon - for hunting flying whales - I guess...

North Channel - Bay City Fairgrounds - yummy!

The Bay City Fairgrounds seem to be a perfect spot for a spontaneous party. It even has a decent music stream if you like oldies. It doesn't seem to see many visitors though.
